What is Matthew's Lending Library?
Matthew's Lending Library is a not for profit publicly supported children's charity established in 1991 to provide adaptive therapy equipment and capability switch operated toys to children and young adults with special needs.
Matthew's Lending Library was established as a living tribute to the memory of Matthew James McCarthy. Matthew was born on September 29, 1981. His brain was not fully developed and therefore he valiantly battled numerous disabilities with bravery courage and grace. Matthew's innocence, strength and courage were an inspiration to all. His impact was felt by everyone who had contact with him, because he touched each person's heart with love. Through Matthew's Lending Library, we hope to make a difference in the lives of others. |

Our PhilosophyIt is our belief that children and young adults with special needs have the right to explore their environment and to function as independently as they are able. Adaptive therapy /positioning equipment and capability switch operated toys open up a new possibility for growth, development and social interaction as well as enjoyment.

Our Goals
* To further cognitive, social and physical development in children and young adults with special needs.
* To establish a network of families who, as their children grow, will be able to exchange adaptive therapy/positioning equipment already in use for equipment that meets their growing needs. * To lend adaptive therapy/positioning equipment and capability switch operated toys on an individual, as needed basis. * To increase community awareness about the numerous daily challenges faced by children and young adults with special needs and varying abilities. * To provide our enrolled families with up to date information regarding technological adaptive equipment advances. * To listen with care and compassion if you are in need of someone who has been there and done that. |
